Notes from one of the Greatest All Star Games of All Time - JD Drew MVP
Congrats to JD Drew for the MVP, a great performance for him and nice as a Red Sox fan to see one get it in Yankee Stadium.
Can’t believe Jose Reyes isn’t on the team, there have been more spots that he could have made a difference than I can count.
Incredible defensive play by Tejada to end it, it appeared that ball was headed for the stands when he threw it but he got it done.
Terry Francona really burned the AL by only getting one inning out of Roy Halladay, Joe Saunders, Ervin Santana, and Justin Duchescher. Also only got 1/3 ip out of Francisco Rodriguez.
Hard to believe that Hurdle didn’t walk Longoria and Kinsler with Guillen on 3rd in the 12th. Only Guillen’s run was important and facing Navarro appeared to be the easier task due to his lack of speed and ability in comparison to Kinsler.
Seeing Corey Hart, Ryan Ludwick, Cristian Guzman, and Dan Uggla go a combined 0-10 through the 13th inning makes me think that maybe the NL would have been better off leaving Chase Utley, Ryan Braun, Matt Holliday and Hanley Ramirez in for the whole game.
Really impressive clutch pitching by Aaron Cook to get out of jams in three innings. As clutch as you will see in this game.
Rough night to be Dan Uggla, who is just having a nightmare defensively and offensively. Have to feel for the guy although his errors haven’t (yet) hurt the team on the scoreboard.

Uggla should do a Southwest airline commercial. Wanna get away?
Edit: Uggla 0/4 now after a strikeout to start the 15th inning.
Yankee fans should have been embarrassed first booing then chanting anti-Papelbon remarks when he was pitching. Don’t they realize he is on their team for the night?
If they were really fans they would be rooting for him because it is in the Yankees’ best interest for him to pitch a shutout inning. Instead they show that they hate Boston more than they like New York. Apparently its more important for them to make Papelbon feel bad than for their team to have home field advantage in the World Series should they reach it.
What a catch by Ryan Ludwick in the 15th to save a hit.
Just BARELY safe to end it! What a game probably the best all star game we will see for a long long time. I would have loved to see what happened if Kazmir hit his limit and they had to use a position player on the mound. AL moves to 11-0-1 in the last 12 games. The look on Dan Uggla’s face really said it all for the NL, which loses a heartbreaker.
More to come before the second half begins!
