An Updated Look at Bay Area Players in the Minor Leagues

Blue Jays First Round Pick David Cooper has shined at three levels of professional baseball in his first season.

Here’s an updated look at players in minor leagues with Bay Area ties:

1. Brett Wallace, 3B St. Louis Cardinals, Justin Siena HS – Promoted to AA Springfield and has a .367 avg with 3 HR in just 13 games since being called up.

2. Jason Codiroli, OF San Diego Padres, West Valley JC – .309 avg over 181 at bats at Rookie League.

3. Kevin Asselin, RHP Chicago White Sox, Sonoma State University – 1.31 era in 20.2 ip with 23 strikeouts.

4. Konrad Theime, C Florida Marlins, Sonoma State University - .246 avg with 2 HR and 10 RBI in 22 games.

5. Marquis Fleming, RHP Tampa Bay Rays, Cal State Stanislaus – 4.70 era in 15.1 ip with 13 strikeouts.

6. Travis Babin, RHP NY Mets, Sonoma State University – 0-1 with a 5.74 era in 26.2 innings. Also has 27 strikeouts over that span.

7. Matt Means, LHP San Diego Padres, Sonoma State University – 0-3 with a 11.25 era in 16 innings with 15 walks and 16 strikeouts.

8. Tyson Ross, RHP Oakland Athletics, UC Berkeley – 0-1 with a 4.66 era in 19.1 ip at Low A Kane County.

9. David Cooper, 1B Toronto Blue Jays, UC Berkeley - .333 batting average over three levels, SS, Low A and High A. Also has 5 HR and 51 rbi in 69 games.

10. Josh Satin, 2B NY Mets, UC Berkeley - .295 with 5 HR in 146 at bats with an .858 OPS.

11. Leroy Hunt, RHP Chicago White Sox, Sacramento CC – 3-5 with a 2.74 era in 37 relief appearances.

12. Vic Ferrante, OF Colorado Rockies, Solano JC - .248 avg with 11 HR in 117 games.

13. Carlos Hernandez, LHP Oakland Athletics, West Valley JC – 6-0 with a 2.04 era in 13 starts with 8.04 k/9.
