Top Ten First Baseman Available

Mark Teixeira (29) – Should be able to command the highest price by far of this bunch, possible suitors: Yankees, Mets (if Delgado leaves), Angels

Hank Blalock (28) - $6.2MM club option for ‘09 with a $0.25MM buyout – The next best available due to his young age and late surge at the plate, could get a 3-5 year deal.

Carlos Delgado (37) - $12MM club option for ‘09 with a $4MM buyout – Will most likely be resigned by the Mets.

Jason Giambi (38) - $22MM club option for ‘09 with a $5MM buyout – Possible DH signing for a team like Toronto, Baltimore or Oakland.

Nomar Garciaparra (35) – Will likely get a utility player level contract because of his health.

Richie Sexson (34) – One year deal candidate here after being cut by Seattle and New York.

Rich Aurilia (37) – Expect to see him resign with San Francisco for one last hurrah. One year deal.

Eric Hinske (31) – Can still be a platoon type guy who always knew how to hit.

Tony Clark (37) – Should stick with Arizona.

Wes Helms (33) - $3.75MM club option for ‘09 with a $0.75MM buyout – Cheap enough for his option to be picked up.
