Offseason Preview: San Diego (Part Two)

Published by llwesman at 7:08 am under Major League Baseball, San Diego Padres Edit This

Lineup Projection

C. Nick Hundley - Stop gap.

1b.  Adrian Gonzalez - STUD.

2b. Matt Antonelli - Two disappointing season in a row, Antonelli will need to do big things in order to prove to ownership that he is the second baseman of the future. Travis Denker is also a potential solution here.

3b. Kevin Kouzmanoff

ss. Yunel Escobar - If they could get him from Atlanta he is a rising star.

lf. Chase Headley

cf. Will Venable - Marin native showed flashes of brilliance, not considered the long term solution but a big season from Venable could hold off Cedric Hunter, expected to be a big time player.

rf. Brian Giles - Back for one last year with Giles.

sp1 - Chris Young

sp2 - Clay Hensley - Solid potential had struggles last year, but he can definitely use the full time innings.

sp3 - Wade LeBlanc

sp4 - Josh Geer

sp5 - Brad Hennessey- Wouldn’t be the first time that an NL West starter was passed around.

closer - Heath Bell - Should step right in for Trevor Hoffman, the last of the old guard in San Diego.
