Offseason Preview - Florida Marlins (Part Two)

Lineup Projection
C. John Baker
1b. Gaby Sanchez
2b. Alfredo Amezaga
3b. Dan Uggla - Should move over with a trade of Cantu.
ss. Hanley Ramirez - Quite possibly the best hitter in the National League outside of Albert Pujols. He keeps getting bigger though, and third base in a couple of years doesn’t seem out of the question.
lf. Cody Ross
cf. Cameron Maybin - It’s Maybin time in Florida, the Marlins should be rewarded for keeping him in the minors for most of last season with a breakout campaign in 2009.
rf. Jeremy Hermida
sp1 - Ricky Nolasco - Ace in the making may need to use more than just his fastball this season.
sp2 - Josh Johnson
sp3 - Andrew Miller - Still a young and hard throwing left hander but he has taken a number of beatings on the hill for Florida and Detroit.
sp4 - Chris Volstad
sp5 - Anibal Sanchez - Can he recover the form that saw him throw a no hitter and dominate two years ago?
closer - Matt Lindstrom -Flamethrower can really bring it on the mound and should get the first look at the closer role.

Umm…not to kill your buzz, but Kotchman is a Brave. I mean, I know they’re just the Marlins and all, and they’re a team in flux, but c’mon. That was a rather big trade.
Rotoworld.com suggests that Jorge Cantu (who you don’t mention in spite of his .277/.327/.481 line, 29 HR, and 95 RBI) will play 1B next year, with Dallas MacPherson (shudder) manning 3B. Amezaga to 2B is an interesting possibility; one I hadn’t considered. I’d rather leave Uggla at 2B and find a AAAA 3B to fill the void, however (like they did with Cantu last year). Between his poor defense and on-base skills, Amezaga is close to replacement level anyway.
Good catch on the Marlins thing, too much late night copy and paste with the positional format. Write 30 of them and you’ll understand
I mentioned Cantu where Uggla is, I’m pretty sure they are going to try and trade him as his value is as high as it can be after his big season as you mentioned. Guess we’ll see!
