The Astro’s system entered the 2008 draft with only one direction to go, up. They took what many described as a reach with Stanford catcher Jason Castro, but Castro proved to be a solid pick in his short time in short season and in fall/winter ball. If JR Towles struggles again this year Castro could be the opening day catcher in 2010. Converted pitcher Brian Bugosevic hit .371 in AA and should get a shot at the bigs sometime in 09.

Bud Norris is a righthanded pitcher he goes into the high 90’s as is Felipe Paulino who has gone over 100. Both should have an impact in the big league bullpen in 2009. Jordan Lyles is a young righthanded starter.
