Nick Adenhart Killed in Car Accident

The Huffington Post, TMZ and MLB Trade Rumors are reporting that Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed early today in a felony hit and run accident. His death comes just hours after he threw six shutout innings against Oakland in what ultimately ended up as an Angels loss. The story is currently developing.
Adenhart was one of the Angels top pitching prospects for the past couple of seasons. He had struggled a bit in 2008 but was poised for a strong season after his outstanding start yesterday. It’s a tragic story no matter what ends up being the details. Adenhart was just 22 years old.
The Huffington Post is reporting that three people were killed, including another so far unidentified person affiliated with the Angels. The Dugout Report will do its best to keep this story updated for you.
Below is according to The Huffington Post:
Cops say someone driving a minivan blew through a red light and hit the Mitsubishi that Adenhart was riding in. Three people were killed in the crash, including Nick.
Cops say the person driving the van fled the scene — but was later caught and charged with felony hit-and-run.
We’re told one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with the Angels organization.
